HE MIGHT NEVER PLAY; CELTICS QB PLAYER WITH SERIOUS INJURY THAT.

Celtics' Joe Mazzulla named NBA All-Star Game head coach, but plays down honor

In their rematch with the Cleveland on Thursday night, the Celtics will be missing a crucial member of their core once more.

Prior to tonight’s game against the C’s, Evan Mobley, who is dealing with a left knee injury, is listed as out on the team’s injury report. Mobley will be sitting out his fourth straight game.

Mobley would have been a useful addition to the Cavs’ traveling roster for this trip, as the wine-and-gold team hopes to emerge victorious from TD Garden and tie the record.

Cleveland has mostly held its own defensively, but Boston’s abundance of weapons makes it challenging to guard.

The Cavs have also gone to smaller lineups due to Mobley’s absence, sending out three-guard combinations multiple times in an attempt to find a solution. Dean Wade has been spot starting at power forward for the entirety of the trip, and Tristan Thompson has seen an increase in minutes at the backup center position.

Cleveland hasn’t lost a step in terms of effort or competitiveness. Positive news: Caris LeVert, who wears wine and gold, recovered from his own knee injury on Tuesday. So, despite the loss of one of the most vital Core Four players, the Cavs are at least getting healthier and returning players.
