According to the team, Tennessee Volunteers wide receiver Bru McCoy had a successful surgery to fix an injury he sustained against South Carolina.

This season, the Vols have struggled to find a rhythm in the passing game, but their most dependable target when they needed a by has been wide receiver Bru McCoy. After NFL departures left the receiver room inexperienced, the senior took over as the No. 1 receiver this offseason. However, a roadblock appeared on Saturday night.

After catching a routine slant pass, McCoy attempted to turn up field, but as he fell, a South Carolina defender struck his ankle. After Bru fell to the ground, he was quickly carted off. Since the game, McCoy has undergone surgery for what the team is referring to as “a fracture-dislocation of his right ankle.”

If he so chooses, McCoy does have one more year of eligibility left. After this season, it was originally intended for him to enter the professional ranks, but following the surgery, those plans could change.
