FLORIDA GATORS HAVE SIGNED A LINEMAN AGAINST THEIR NEXT MATCH WITH.
The Florida Gators’ last official visitation weekend in Gainesville prior to the Early Signing Period is just a few days away. Two JUCO prospects that are anticipated in the area this weekend have already been reported by us, but Florida is currently reviewing the NCAA Transfer Portal. One area where there has been a clear need to address is offensive line. One name that has been on the Gators’ radar is reportedly scheduled to make an official visit to the area this weekend, according to Swamp247. That’s Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson, a former offensive tackle for San Diego State.
The 310-pound, 6-foot-6 player played in 37 Aztecs games. In 2021, Crenshaw-Dickson started 14 games at right tackle as a sophomore. He participated in 932 of the team’s 967 offensive snaps during that season, which was second most on the team. In 403 passing opportunities in 2021, Crenshaw-Dickson gave up just one sack, according to Pro Football Focus. For the 2022 campaign, he switched to left tackle and started 12 of the team’s 13 games while making appearances in all 13. The large lineman started ten games in 2023, eight at left tackle and four at right tackle. Playing tackle on both sides of the line of scrimmage, he has a ton of experience. Additionally, he’s been touted as a potential borderline NFL player and he was preseason third-team all Mountain West this year.
The Florida Gators coaching staff is getting ready for an intense final week of ‘Contact Period’ recruiting stops as the Early Signing Period approaches. Since the contact period began earlier this month, the staff has made a variety of stops, and Swamp247 has been keeping track of stops every day. On Wednesday, the coaches from Florida plan to visit a few commits and targets. These are the known stops that we currently know about. As the day progresses, we will update with any new information that becomes available.
Billy Napier, the head coach of Florida, is anticipated to meet with a significant commitment on Wednesday; this recruitment has become a struggle in the final stages. That’s five-star safety Xavier Filsaime from McKinney, Texas. This will be a significant stop as well because it will be Filsaime’s first opportunity to meet with the new staff member and the first day that Will Harris, the new defensive back coach, is officially activated to begin recruiting for the Gators. Austin Armstrong, the defensive coordinator, has also participated in the recruiting process and ought to be present for this stop.
As the Early Signing Period draws near, Texas has become a formidable opponent for the Gators. This coming weekend, Texas will welcome Filsaime for an official visit. Since an offer was made in October in Austin, confidence has been increasing. Texas had felt they had a chance with the gifted safety, but after they were able to bring Filsaime in for an unofficial visit last month, their confidence seemed to soar. Florida is hoping that the first face-to-face meeting with Harris and the presence of well-known figures in Armstrong and Napier will help turn the tide in their favor. Filsaime’s mother lives in the Florida panhandle, close to Orlando, so we would anticipate a Gators fan to attend.
