The enormous sum of money Roger Tuivasa-Sheck declined to rejoin the Warriors

According to Roger Tuivasa-Sheck, he turned down a lucrative two-year contract to play rugby in Japan in order to rejoin the Warriors.

On Thursday, the former All Black made his media debut for the first time since returning to the league and starting the NRL team’s preseason.

Despite not getting what he wanted, he has no regrets about giving rugby a try.

The 30-year-old claimed that he was almost finished deciding on the next phase of his career, which would have involved moving to Japanese rugby in order to secure his financial future. However, he changed his mind about Japan after having coffee with a few of his former Warriors teammates.

Tuivasa-Sheck remarked, “I thought I was going to go on to rugby and then I had a Japan deal lined up.”

“I intended to travel, bring my family, explore the world, and then decide where to go after that.

However, after going through the procedure, I called my close friends Jazz (Tevaga) and Tohu (Harris) and said, “Let’s go out for coffee.”

“Tell me one thing, should I just travel to Japan and observe what occurs, or should I return?”

“There’s something here [at the Warriors],” they said, glancing at one another.

“I decided to return after having another catch-up with Webby (Andrew Webster) because that excited me.

“I’m just thrilled right now because they are. They sense something here, and maybe something will happen over the next few years.

Tuivasa-Sheck was conversing with Webster, but he still needed to be persuaded that the Warriors had undergone a transformation.

Tuivasa-Sheck, who was the club captain prior to his departure, was greatly affected by the years of constant disappointment. Though he still had a strong devotion to the Warriors, he required proof that things had changed.

He declared, “I had to see it.”

Put yourself in my position. Since I arrived here in 2016, I’ve had three or four coaches, and various managers have all told me the same thing—that they will perform tasks A, B, and C in order to win the championship. However, we lose the coach every year when that happens.

“I have to see it come to life because we didn’t have the best of seasons when I was here.

“Everyone was talking about it, but I had to see it because that’s what they did annually. I returned after seeing and sensing it.

Webster eventually persuaded Tuivasa-Sheck that this time would be different.

Tuivasa-Sheck remarked, “He said we’re going to be a team that competes and turns up for each other.”

“I said, ‘Webby, tell me something different, I’ve heard this before.'”

“”I’ve got a few rules; we’re going to learn,” he declared. My team of coaches will instruct us so that we can improve as rugby league players.
