Dolphins' Holland calls MetLife Stadium turf 'trash' after teammate Phillips injures Achilles tendon – KXAN Austin

It turns out that reports of the Miami Dolphins’ demise were way overblown, as the saying goes. Six days after a horrific late collapse and in spite of numerous injuries, one of which kept Tyreek Hill out of the starting lineup, the Dolphins completed their season sweep of the overwhelming New York Jets at Hard Rock Stadium by coming back in the most convincing manner imaginable. In a 30-0 victory that was every bit as lopsided as the score might indicate, the defense overpowered Zach Wilson and the Jets offense. Jaylen Waddle and Tua Tagovailoa connected on eight completions for 142 yards and a 60-yard touchdown, and Raheem Mostert added two more running scores.

Defensory superiority from the outset Respect to Tua, Waddle, and Mostert notwithstanding, the Dolphins’ pass rush was the main factor in this victory over the Jets, as it completely overwhelmed their quarterback and the Jets’ weak offensive line. On Black Friday, it was Tim Boyle who was targeted by the pass rush, but this time, Zach Wilson was the victim.

And it started with a huge hit from Bradley Chubb, who made up for a poor performance against Tennessee by dominating the game and hitting Wilson so hard that it jarred the ball loose and resulted in a fumble. Following Zach Sieler’s 1-yard line recovery, Mostert scored on a third-down play to establish new franchise marks for total touchdowns (19) and rushing touchdowns (17). Trevor Siemian, who came in for Wilson late in the first half, fumbled the ball and Chubb recovered it to complete his hat trick. Chubb finished his day with another sack and forced fumble.

Three of the Dolphins’ six sacks were finished by Chubb, and Sieler added a sack to his fumble recovery. With two interceptions by Brandon Jones and two fumble recoveries by Sieler and Chubb—including one during the Jets’ game-winning drive—the defense managed to come away with four takeaways. DOLPHINS RECOVER FROM DAMAGE One of the numerous backups who had to start due to injuries was Jones, who was included in the lineup as a result of Jevon Holland’s injury. In addition to Holland and Hill, the Dolphins were also without guard Robert Hunt, safety DeShon Elliott, and cornerback Xavien Howard. Additionally, right tackle Austin Jackson left the game late in the first half due to an oblique injury.

With Hunt and starting center Connor Williams out due to injury, the Dolphins offense relied heavily on quick passes for the majority of the game. Tua was successful, going 21 of 24 for 224 yards. But halfway through the second quarter, Tua found a deep pass from Waddle for a 60-yard touchdown, making the score 17-0 and all but guaranteeing the win given how well the Dolphins defense was playing. The halftime numbers were so biased that they were almost comical. The Dolphins led 24-0 and had a 197–4 yard advantage in yardage. While New York hadn’t advanced its offensive line past its own 42-yard line, the Dolphins had used 23 offensive snaps in Jets territory.
