OHIO STATE HAS FINALLY AGREED WITH THE $750 DEAL WITH.

Kyle McCord gets the nod as starting QB for No. 3 Ohio State

Four-star cornerback Bryce West is anticipated to sign with the Ohio State football program during the Dec. 20–22 early signing period for the 2024 recruiting class. Use this profile to find out more about this recruit for the Buckeyes.

On June 24, a week after making a series of visits to Michigan and USC, and just one day after his official visit, West committed to Ohio State.

Standing at 5 feet 11 inches and 177 pounds, he possesses exceptional speed and coverage skills in the secondary. He was an athlete in track at Glenville as well, and on his first day in Columbus, he proved he was a legitimate player. He still has room to grow physically, which will be essential to his ability to stop the run in collegiate competition.

Along with two other corners, including top-50 recruit Aaron Scott, West will add two more to the class. It will probably be a development arch type of career for West given what the Buckeyes have in starting roles now and what they had in freshmen newcomers in 2023.

Still, because of his speed and coverage skills, he can play any one of Ohio State’s three cornerback positions when he enters the collegiate ranks. He might get on the field sooner if he can play the run well enough.

He does, however, have the size and measurables to be a starter based only on coverage ability.

Any role that West plays in 2024 will probably be reserve because the Buckeyes will have at least one starter in Davison Igbinosun and a few important returners in Calvin Simpson-Hunt and Jermaine Mathews Jr.

It wouldn’t be shocking to see him on special teams early in his career given his speed.

However, Scott, Simpson-Hunt, Miles Lockhart, and Sonny Styles will probably be vying for the fourth cornerback spot during his freshman season as a Buckeye, behind what could be a starting trio of Jordan Hancock, Mathews, and Igbinosun.

That does not account for Denzel Burke’s possible return to the team, which would further cloud the depth chart.
