News: Pastrnak stays out of trouble after boarding Lindgren.
Superstar David Pastrnak of the Boston Bruins won’t face a suspension for boarding Ryan Lindgren of the New York Rangers during the second period of Saturday’s game, an insider told Arthur Staple of The Athletic.
On the play, Pastrnak was called for a game misconduct and given a five-minute major.
Lindgren stayed in the game but left the ice bleeding.
Jim Montgomery, the head coach of the Boston Bruins, disagreed with the officials’ evaluation of the play.
Extremely startled. According to Ty Anderson of 98.5 The Sports Hub, “I thought it was two minutes.”
With 41 points going into Saturday’s game, Pastrnak was tied for third in the league in scoring. The 27-year-old has only ever had one suspension in his career, which was for two games in 2016 due to an unauthorized head check.
In their most recent meeting on November 25, the Bruins and Rangers produced a contentious moment when New York captain Jacob Trouba caught Boston forward Trent Frederic with a high stick to the head. After receiving a fine for the play, Trouba and the other person fought in the second period on Saturday, reigniting their rivalry.
