J.C. Jackson likely done for season after being placed on reserve/non-football illness list

Patriots’ location J.C. Jackson is listed as sick beyond football, sign a running back.

J.C. Jackson, a cornerback with the Patriots, was placed on the non-football illness list on Tuesday afternoon.
Jackson was active for the Patriots’ Week 15 loss to the Chiefs, but he did not participate or even watch from the sidelines. This move comes two days after that. Neil Schwartz, Jackson’s representative, disclosed to ESPN that Jackson was battling mental health concerns.
After failing to comply with curfew at the team hotel in Week 9, Jackson was left at home when the Patriots traveled to Germany for their Week 10 matchup against the Colts. When he rejoined the team following their Week 11 bye, he expressed regret and accepted responsibility.

The seasoned cornerback was traded back to the Patriots earlier this season after signing a five-year, $82.5 million contract with them in 2022. He started his career with the Patriots in 2018 as an undrafted free agent. His 18-month stay with the Chargers came to an end due to injuries and rumored conflicts with the coaching staff.

With this change, the Patriots’ 53-man roster now includes Alex Austin, Shaun Wade, Jonathan Jones, and Myles Bryant at cornerback.

The Patriots added running back Kevin Harris, who was on their practice squad, to their 53-man roster in a similar move. In addition, they formally added cornerback William Hooper and running back Ke’Shawn Vaughn to their practice squad.
