Michael Pittman Jr. clears concussion protocol, Colts rule out 3 ahead of Week 16 game vs. Atlanta Falcons

Colts Announce WR Michael Pittman’s Illness for Week 16 Matchup Against the Falcons
A playmaker has been ruled out by the Indianapolis Colts ahead of a crucial game against the Atlanta Falcons.

Michael Pittman Jr. is out, so the Indianapolis Colts will have to try to win against the Atlanta Falcons without their best pass-catcher.

It has been determined that Colts wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. (concussion/shoulder) is out. After taking that severe blow last week, he’s basically got whiplash. And out right now,” NFL Insider Ian Rapoport said on X on Saturday night.

Following Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback Damontae Kazee’s massive hit, Pittman’s absence against the Falcons raises some concerns about the Colts offense and how it will function.

Even after Pittman’s concussion protocol clearance was announced by Colts head coach Shane Steichen, the wideout’s status as questionable for Friday’s game was still listed due to a shoulder injury. Pittman will now be deprived of his Christmas Eve game.

The Colts may have made the decision to add wide receiver Ethan Fernea to the gameday roster for this reason. Look for receivers Alec Pierce and Josh Downs to get more targets from Gardner Minshew as a result of Pittman’s absence.

Pittman’s loss is severe, but the Colts do have Jonathan Taylor, who will improve the offense from the ground up. With their best receiver off the field, it will be interesting to watch how Arthur Smith’s Falcons approach the Colts.
