WHY NOW; DETRIOT LIONS HAS GIVEN AN INDEFINITELY SUSPENSION TO.
With a strong opportunity to qualify for the playoffs and a remote possibility to win the division, the Minnesota Vikings looked ready to begin the last stretch of their campaign in Week 16 against the Detroit Lions. By the time of their Week 16 match, the Vikings had lost three crucial players to injuries, were outside the postseason picture, and were no longer in the running for the NFC North crown.
Head coach Kevin O’Connell stated during the game that he believed the injuries to be significant. Tight end T.J. Hockenson (knee), rookie wideout Jordan Addison (ankle), and defensive end D.J. Wonnum (lower body, maybe ACL) were forced out of the game due to injuries.
“I really think so,” O’Connell remarked. “I am unable to verify any of those. But there are still two weeks to go. We have some very tough guys here, you know. A group of guys are fighting their way back inside. However, I firmly think otherwise.
The Vikings (7-8) fell short against the Lions, 30-24. During its last play of the game, Minnesota had an opportunity to take a late lead. On a third-and-27 play, Justin Jefferson made a fantastic 28-yard reception, while Brandon Powell added a 26-yard catch and run to his play. But when quarterback Nick Mullens tried to throw a deep pass to Jefferson on a first-and-10 play from the Detroit thirty yard line, he intercepted the pass.
