Raptors trading OG Anunoby to the Knicks in a stunning blockbuster trade for young talent.
Rearranging their lineup, the Knicks shipped off RJ Barrett and Immanuel Quickley in a seismic trade to acquire Raptors wing OG Anunoby, a source confirmed.
The 3-and-D wing Anunoby will probably start in place of Barrett in the starting lineup. Because he spaces the floor and doesn’t require the ball in his hands, he is a theoretically better positional fit in a lineup with Jalen Brunson and Julius Randle.
In exchange for Toronto big man Precious Achiuwa, who can help with the current center shortage, the Knicks received a second-round pick.
The Pistons’ 2024 second-round pick, which is expected to be valued in the early 30s, is also being sent by New York in the trade.Anunoby, who recently changed representation, is 26 years old.

Despite his strong play this season, Quickley is now a trade candidate because he and the Knicks were unable to reach an extension agreement in the summer.
As Quickley, Quentin Grimes, and Donte DiVincenzo all had limited playing time, their departure clears out the guard glut that had become a problem for the team. DiVincenzo and Grimes can now divide those minutes, and Anunoby advances to small forward.
