Justin Pugh of the Giants is amazed by Joe Flacco’s “unbelievable” Browns comeback.

Joe Flacco celebrates after defeating the New York Jets at Cleveland Browns Stadium.

In 2023, Joe Flacco emerges as the team’s star player, although Justin Pugh founded the NFL’s “Straight off the Couch” Crew. Quarterbacks hogging the limelight—same old tale, huh? After practice on Friday, Pugh joked in the Giants locker room, “I could only take it so far.” “He’s going to carry the baton to the finish line; I handed it to him.”

Pugh accomplished the extraordinary on October 15 when, due to a season-ending injury to Giants teammate Josh Ezeudu, he had to start at left guard in his first NFL game in 360 days and then quickly move to undersized left tackle, a position he had not played extensively since 2015.

Pugh quickly made money off of the line when it went viral by selling “Straight off the Couch” clothing in Giants colors, but it might be time to start making them for Browns supporters as well.

For the surprisingly playoff-bound Browns, Flacco is 4-1 with a 90.2 passer rating, 13 touchdowns, and four straight 300-yard passing performances, six weeks after he was a carpool dad who had been unsigned since the end of the previous season.

The 37-20 victory over the Jets on Thursday featured a career-high 296 passing yards in the first half for the former Super Bowl MVP.

Pugh declared, “What Flacco is doing is unbelievable.” Our team’s quarterback, Straight off the Couch, is him. After returning at the age of 38 and dominating the previous four or five games, he has Cleveland looking like a contender.

Pugh simply requests that media outlets, including game announcers, remember to give due credit to the 2023 originators of the phrase, which has gained popularity throughout the league due to the roles played by Flacco, Ravens linebacker Kyle Van Noy, and Seahawks left tackle Jason Peters—all of whom are important additions for playoff-bound teams.

When Pugh was getting ready to start for the eleventh time in a row on Sunday against the Rams, he said, “People say, ‘Oh, once he’s got the playbook down,’ but everyone knows who Flacco is.” “No one is being surprised by what he’s doing. “Straight off the Couch” has been improved by him.
