Pitcher Frankie Montas agrees to $16 million, 1-year contract with Cincinnati Reds.
According to a person familiar with the talks, Frankie Montas and the Cincinnati Reds have reached an agreement on a $16 million, one-year contract. This deal offers the 30-year-old right-hander a chance to rebound from an injury-plagued stint with the New York Yankees.
The agreement was contingent on a successful physical examination, so the person spoke to the AP on Saturday under the condition of anonymity.

On August 1, 2022, the Yankees acquired Montas from Oakland in exchange for four prospects and reliever Lou Trivino. In eight starts with New York that season, Montas went 1-3 with a 6.35 ERA and afterwards acknowledged he wasn’t well.
Dr. Neal ElAttrache, the head physician for the Los Angeles Dodgers, performed a labrum surgery on him on February 21. He made his lone big league appearance of the season on September 30. In a 5-2 victory over Kansas City on the next-to-last day of the season, Montas struck out four batters while giving up two hits and a walk.
In 99 starts and 31 relief appearances, Montas is 37-35 with a 3.90 ERA while pitching for the Chicago White Sox (2015), Oakland (2017–22), and the Yankees.
He possessed
