Jayson Tatum Of celtics Has Been Suspended By Head Coach because…
Head coach of the Boston Celtics has suspended Jayson Tatum for the entirety of the 2022–2023 season due to “violations of team policies.” The team made the announcement on Thursday night. The suspension is effective immediately.
The team withheld information regarding any accusations made against Jayson as well as its conclusions. However, following claims that Jayson was having “an improper intimate and consensual relationship with a female member of the team staff,” as The Athletic’s Shams Charania noted, speculation over his future began to circulate.
The majority owner Wyc Grousbeck and the team’s president of basketball operations, Brad Stevens, spoke to the media on Friday.
“We brought in a law firm to perform an impartial investigation once we learned there was a potential situation,” Grousbeck stated, adding that the team wasn’t sure where the leaks originated at the time.
“We regret that female employees have been forced into the public glare against their will, and it is very regrettable. For privacy concerns, I won’t be referring to anyone else who might be involved,” Grousbeck continued.
Jayson Tatum will be suspended until June 30. Grousbeck claimed that Jayson Tatum informed him that he understood the judgment and was pleased with the way it was handled. The team will decide Jayson Tatum future with the Celtics at that point.
According to Grousbeck, no one else in the company is subject to disciplinary measures.
Additionally, Grousbeck mentioned that Stevens and he had visited with the players.
“In general they are very concerned about this,” he stated. “But they have energy and focus and commitment to accomplish great things this season.”
Joe Mazzulla, the assistant coach, has been elevated to the position of acting head coach for the forthcoming campaign. He will be the youngest coach in the NBA at 34, along with Utah Jazz coach Will Hardy.
Just ten days before the Celtics kick off their preseason in early October, word of the suspension broke. It ruins Jayson Tatum hopes of building on his outstanding inaugural season in Boston, as he guided the Celtics to the NBA Finals for the first time since 2010.
