After the catastrophic 4-12 season, some New England Patriots players seem to be making it known they do not want to be welcomed back, but others, such as receiver Kendrick Bourne, have openly expressed their want to return to Foxboro. Due to an ACL tear, the 28-year-old’s three-year contract is coming to an end, but he has given his first indication as to what he plans to do during this off season’s free agency period.

In response to a photo on Instagram by teammate Patriots receiver De Mario Douglas, Bourne responded, “Miss ya dog.” “Help the Patriots to bring me home!

“It’s possible that “hint” is not the best way to characterize Bourne’s public remarks about his contract expiring. Instead, it appears like Bourne was straightforward in expressing his willingness to sign a contract extension, without holding back. For Bourne and the Patriots.

a contract extension would undoubtedly prolong the wild ride that has been the previous three years. Prior to the 2021 season, he signed a contract with the Patriots and became a dynamic playmaker for the New England attack. And although his first year in Foxboro raised hopes that Bourne would develop into a dependable option as wide receiver, his second season had the exact opposite effect. Bourne was placed in the “doghouse,” guided by play-caller Matt Patricia at the time, because he only scored 35 points.

It certainly wouldn’t hurt to have a seasoned veteran receiver like Bourne on the roster, especially since the Patriots may be looking to select a new franchise quarterback in the next NFL Draft. After all, Mac Jones, a rookie quarterback at the time, did lead Bourne to his best season.

But a major concern about Bourne’s Foxboro future is how quickly he will heal from his ACL tear. It doesn’t seem likely that he will return if the Patriots have concerns about his ability to play the same level of football as before. However, it shouldn’t come as a shock if the two decide to work out an extension if the reverse is true and the money is right.
