Despite being eliminated, Jameson Williams is “in a good spot,” and Ceedy Duce has been upgraded.

ALLEN PARK — While Ceedy Duce and Alim McNeill are both heading in the direction of getting back on track in the season finale against Minnesota, Jameson Williams’ regular season is officially over.

Williams is out against the Vikings due to an ankle injury and illness. Tight end Brock Wright (hip) and edge rusher James Houston (ankle) are also out. That ruins Williams’s promising regular season finale; he caught a 63-yard pass in Dallas last week. After Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta, he has caught 11 passes (on 16 targets) for 159 yards in his last three games overall, providing Detroit with another potent pass-catching threat.

ALLEN PARK Jameson Williams’ regular season is officially over, but Ceedy Duce and Alim McNeill are both moving in the right direction as they prepare for Minnesota in the season finale.

Williams will not play against the Vikings because of an illness and an ankle injury. Additionally sidelined are edge rusher James Houston (ankle) and tight end Brock Wright (hip). That spoils Williams’s promising final game of the regular season; last week, he caught a 63-yard pass in Dallas. He has caught 11 passes (on 16 targets) for 159 yards in his last three games overall, behind only Amon-Ra St. Brown and Sam LaPorta, giving Detroit another strong pass-catching threat.

Given that the Lions have two roster spots available, it appears inevitable that the team will activate both Duce and McNeill from injured reserve after they were both upgraded to questionable on Friday afternoon. Due to a torn pectoral muscle, Duce has been out since Week 2, and McNeill has missed four games due to a knee injury.

McNeill informed MLive that he has already been given the all-clear to play, and Duce is anticipated to suit up against Minnesota as well, giving both players a crucial chance to get some rest. Even though it’s to the dismay of the dynamic defensive back, Duce gets the chance to work his way through a new three-man safety rotation.

Starting a new cycle? I mean, how can I say that I’m cool with it? Duce said, “I don’t want to come across as conceited or a (expletive), but I ain’t get back early to be in a rotation.” “However, I’m getting my body going by doing what I have to as a team player.”

Despite appearing on the injury report this week, LaPorta (ankle), center Frank Ragnow (toe/back/knee), guard Graham Glasgow (rest), left tackle Taylor Decker (groin), and cornerback Cam Sutton (toe) are all healthy.

However, there seems to be a bug circulating through the locker room, and Dan Campbell, the head coach, says he wouldn’t be shocked if someone gets sick before kickoff.

“If you think it’s bad enough, you try to quarantine some guys,” Campbell remarked. “But in the end, things will just sort of work themselves out, and this weekend, there will be some guys who play who aren’t feeling well. I already know it’s coming. And for the guys who seem pretty good right now, I’m ready; on Saturday night, we’re going to hear about someone who wasn’t feeling well. It’s inevitable, as much as I hate to say it. We will overcome it, though. After it passes through all of the players, we won’t be dealing with it anymore.
