Justin Jefferson must first sign an extension, according to Ja’Marr Chase.

This offseason, Bengals wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase is qualified for a contract extension. With one year remaining on his rookie contract, the Bengals will almost certainly exercise his fifth-year option, which will keep him under team control until 2025.

Chase, though, is hoping for a new contract with the Bengals as soon as possible.

CeeDee Lamb, a receiver for the Cowboys, stated earlier this week that his goal is to become the highest-paid player in the NFL. Tyreek Hill, a receiver for the Dolphins, earns $30 million on average in new money, making him the highest paid player at the position right now.

Chase is aware that whenever Vikings receiver Justin Jefferson signs an extension, it probably resets the market at the position.

When asked if Jefferson having a deal done is a requirement for signing an extension, Chase responded, “Hell, yeah,” laughing. Burrow followed the five-year, $262 million contract signed by Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert in this manner. In talks, Chase stated that he will give “upfront” money priority.

In the second year of the agreement, Burrow is guaranteed money, but Chase would not be so explicit about what he wants.
