Aston Villa and Manchester United are competing to sign the 23-year-old striker.

Football Transfers can confirm that Aston Villa and Manchester United are interested in signing Lille striker Jonathan David during the January transfer window.

Due to Rasmus Hojlund’s ongoing struggles this season, the Red Devils are looking to add another striker during the transfer window.

After making a large-scale transfer from Serie A, the former Atalanta striker has only managed one Premier League goal this season.

The most recent player to be connected to United is the Canadian forward David, as they look to bolster their roster during this month’s transfer window.

David has declared himself ready to leave Lille, and a deal could be reached in the coming weeks with either Manchester United or Villa, who are both interested in signing a center-forward with his kind of skill set.

Erik ten Hag’s team has scored the fewest goals of any team in the top half of the Premier League, and they have struggled with scoring all season. If this issue is not resolved during the January transfer window, United’s season could be utterly destroyed.

David was considered by United as a replacement for Harry Kane during the summer, as the England captain left for Bayern Munich due to financial difficulties.

Aston Villa, who has nine goals this season, is looking to give striker Ollie Watkins additional assistance. Getting him support could help him reach new heights in his performance, as he has been a standout player for them this season.

David has made 24 appearances for the French team this season, contributing 6 assists and 10 goals.
