The season has not quite concluded the way the Philadelphia Eagles would have liked. The Eagles’ once-borderline magical season has been derailed by five losses in the last six games, which culminated in back-to-back losses to the Arizona Cardinals and the New York Football Giants, both of whom finished with the lowest six records in the NFL this year.

The Eagles started the season 10-1 with a firm grip on the NFC East title and the NFC 1 Seed. Will Monday night’s game feature DeVonta Smith, the other half of the Eagles’ deadly receiving tandem?

In spite of this, the Eagles can consider themselves lucky to have managed to secure the fifth seed. They will also have the pleasant advantage of facing the fourth-seeded team in the playoffs this year, the inconsistent and, to be honest, barely above mediocre Tampa Bay Buccaneers, led by Baker Mayfield.

The Eagles, who are playing away from home, are undoubtedly not disappointed with the result, especially in light of Florida’s typically mild winters. Not that this would necessarily have a negative impact on the team from Philadelphia, which is known for its cold weather.

According to Underdog NFL, a crucial player appears to have some positive news regarding his probable playing status on Monday night, giving the Philadelphia Eagles even more cause for celebration.

Smith is now hoping to play for the Eagles in their Wild Card game against Tampa Bay, right in time for the playoffs. AJ Brown is the team’s top receiver, but DeVonta Smith, who isn’t the primary target, has quietly developed into one of the best number two receivers in the whole football league, posting back-to-back seasons of 1,000 yards or more.

As the Eagles started getting ready to play the Buccaneers in the wild card round on Monday night, wide receiver A.J. Brown was not present on the practice field. In the first half of the Eagles’ Week 18 loss to the Giants on Sunday, 26-year-old Brown sustained a knee injury. It’s uncertain if he can play against the Bucs. It would definitely be a great loss if he couldn’t.

Safety Reed Blankenship (groin) was not practicing on Thursday in addition to Brown. He was a bystander and dressed in street clothes. The Eagles are extremely thin at safety after losing rookie Sydney Brown to an ACL tear in Week 18.

Jalen Hurts, the quarterback, hurt his finger during practice on Sunday. Hurts, though, said before the session started that he hadn’t even tried to toss a football since the game. That changed on Thursday, but practice viewing for reporters was limited. Hurts’s right (throwing) hand was gloved. Although he did not participate in the ball security drill, he did complete a few short passes.
