Outside Kaseya Center, the Miami Heat will install a statue honoring Dwyane Wade, a franchise legend.
The Miami Heat’s home arena, the Kaseya Center, will see the official arrival of Dwyane Wade.
The Miami Heat revealed during a halftime ceremony on Sunday before their game against the Charlotte Hornets that they will install a statue of franchise star and Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame inductee Dwyane Wade in front of the Kaseya Center in honor of his enduring legacy.
Wade was inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame last year as part of a class that was uniquely international. This news follows.
“When we retired his jersey in February 2020, I said Dwyane was the face of this franchise forever and I meant it,” Riley stated. “Dwyane’s legacy is enormous for Miami-Wade as well as the Miami Heat County. There isn’t a greater way to remember him than by keeping that legacy alive.”Wade was a 13-time All-Star who won three NBA titles with the Miami Heat and was NBA Finals MVP in 2006.
Before his jersey was retired in 2020, Miami’s all-time leading scorer played for the Heat for the most of his 16 NBA seasons.
The Miami Heat claim that the statue will be commissioned by Omri Amrany and Oscar León of Fine Art Studio Rotblatt Amrany, the same sculptors that created the statues of former NBA players Shaquille O’Neal at LSU and Michael Jordan in Chicago Fall of 2024 is when the unveiling event is planned to take place.
