Amid the “dysfunction,” Jalen Hurts’ frustration with the Eagles was revealed.
Tim McManus detailePlayers on the Philadelphia Eagles, notably quarterback Jalen Hurts, are getting more and more irritated with the team. ESPN’sd Hurts’ “disappointment” with the offense and the “dysfunction” within the Eagles. Only a few hours before the Eagles’ Wild Card game against the Buccaneers, the insider report was released.
In a January 15, 2024 article titled “Why has Nick Sirianni struggled to rally the Eagles?” McManus said, “On top of those struggles, Jalen Hurts’ desired direction for the offense has not materialized, which has been a source of disappointment for the franchise quarterback.” The source had direct knowledge of Hurts’ thinking. The offensive coordinator Brian Johnson, Sirianni, and Hurts have different perspectives, and this h
“During the season, Philadelphia’s offense produced above-average results in comparison to the rest of the league, but it fell short of the high expectations established in 2022. The Eagles (11-6) dropped from nias made it difficult for the offense to find its identity, the source added.nth in passing (241.5 yards per game) to 16th (225.5), from fifth in rushing (147.6) to eighth (128.8), and from third in points per game (28.1) to seventh (25.5). Even in victories, players were troubled by the perception that they were falling short.
Despite the Eagles’ impressive 10-1 start to the season, the offense was not playing at its peak. While some of the fault should go to the play-callers, Hurts has turnover issues all season long.
During the regular season, the quarterback for Philadelphia threw a career-high fifteen interceptions. Hurts threw six picks in 2022; this is more than twice as many.
It has not been all bad for Hurts throwing for 3,858 yards and 23 touchdowns as well. Hurts added 605 rushing yards and a career-high 15 TDs on the ground.
The Eagles seem to be at odds with one another not only on the field but also in the locker room. According to Peter King of NBC Sports, head coach Nick Sirianni might be playing in the postseason to keep his job.
In a column titled “FMIA Wild Card: Decibels in Detroit, Doubt in Dallas, Harmony in Houston,” published on January 15, King wrote, “No inside information here, other than to know the people involved, and if I’m Sirianni, I’m thinking I’ve got to win tonight at Tampa Bay to show owner Jeffrey Lurie and GM Howie Roseman that I deserve the chance to re-shape the coaching staff.”
“He’ll have to erase the defensive staff, at least, and do surgery on the offensive staff. Perhaps Sirianni suggests to the executives that he call the offensive plays the following season. In either case, Sirianni’s career is in doubt given the 1-5 collapse down the stretch and numerous easy runs of awful losses.
