Philadelphia, PA (AP) – Norm Snead, a sixteen-year NFL quarterback throughout the 1960s and 1970s who was selected to the Pro Bowl four times, passed away. He was eighty-four.
Snead played collegiate football for Wake Forest before turning pro, and a representative for the team told The Associated Press on Monday that the team found out about his passing on Sunday via Snead’s family. It was not stated what caused the death.
Washington selected Snead with the second overall pick in the 1961 NFL draft. The Buffalo Bills selected him with the 33rd overall pick in the American Football League draft of the same year. After making two trips to the Pro Bowl during his three seasons as a player in Washington, he was moved to the Philadelphia Eagles in exchange for Claude Crabb and Sonny Jurgensen.
