Where does UF's Billy Napier stack up in '22 coaching class?

On Monday, the Florida Gators added an in-state defensive lineman to their 2025 class, securing another pledge. Jalen Wiggins (6-4, 245, Tallahassee, FL; James Rickards,) a defensive lineman for 2025, chose Florida over Miami and other schools on Monday.

Wiggins explained his decision to commit to Florida on Monday, saying it was “after going on that last visit to Florida this weekend and talking to some of the players that are there and getting their insight into why they chose Florida.” “I was convinced after hearing what motivates them off the field as well as on it.”

Regarding the coach’s response to his commitment, Wiggins remarked, “They were really excited and pumped up.” “They said they wanted me to be the class leader and that they were ready to get things going.” Wiggins had the opportunity to meet and get to know Chatman on Saturday, and the seasoned assistant coach impressed him.

Upon meeting Chatman, he remarked, “It was great, he’s a great guy, real energetic.” “I am aware that he is eager to begin the season. He was telling me how eager he was to get started. I am aware that he was also a professional coach.Wiggins was also given an explanation by Chatman and defensive coordinator Austin Armstrong of how he would integrate into the defense once he arrives in Gainesville.

According to Wiggins, “I would probably be at that F position as far as playing wise.” “I will be dropping back a little bit too since I will be playing the 5, 6, basically defensive end, and outside linebacker. I will collaborate with him in addition to Coach [Mike] Peterson. Wiggins made his early commitment in part so that he may have the opportunity to enlist more people to join him in Gainesville.

He declared, “I truly want to be the class leader.” “You only get to hang out with the folks who are already in the class or on the team when you commit or sign late; you have no control over who gets into the class. I will be able to assist in selecting and selecting who else is admitted into the program because I arrived early.
