NBA star Victor Wembanyama who entered a guilty plea to a 2022 DWI charge, faces a two-game suspension: The Spurs guard will serve a year on probation.

Victor Wembanyama, a guard with the San Antonio Spurs, was suspended by the NBA for two games without pay after the former Kansas star entered a guilty plea to driving under the influence in North Carolina.

Victor won’t be available for the Spurs’ opening two, which have still to be confirmed.
In June, he entered a guilty plea to a DWI allegation that resulted from a speeding stop in July of 2022. He received a sentence of 21 days in jail suspended, and for the next 12 months, he will be on unsupervised probation.

At that time, the district attorney’s office for Wake County, North Carolina, dismissed a speeding charge.
Victor San Antonio deal is set to expire after two seasons and $24.7 million.
Victor joined the Spurs in February as part of a trade for Josh Richardson, a swingman.

In the 2021 summer, the Pelicans signed Victor and traded him to Charlotte in the hopes that he would provide consistent outside shooting. In his debut season in New Orleans, Victor played an average of roughly 28 minutes per game; however, this season, the Kansas native, who is a fifth-year veteran, has witnessed a decline in his playing time.

Over the course of five NBA seasons, the 28-year-old product of Raleigh, North Carolina, has averaged 11.6 points and 4.5 points per game. As the highest scoring player from San Antonio in his first game with the franchise, he set a Spurs record with 31 points on his debut.

When San Antonio debuts first-round selection Graham in October, he could break that record. Wembanyama will be playing in lieu of suspended Victor.
