Marshall Faulk, Jim Harbaugh’s former Colts teammate, issues a caution to the Chargers.
In 2023, the Los Angeles Chargers had the most humiliating season ever. At the absolute least, they were anticipated to contend with the Kansas City Chiefs for the AFC West title and make a run at the postseason. Instead, they collapsed under former head coach Brandon Staley, going 5–12 and placing last in the standings. Jim Harbaugh was hired by the Chargers to lead the club to victory as a result.
In all of his prior coaching positions, Harbaugh has been successful. He led the University of Michigan to the national title. Earlier in his career, he was the head coach at Stanford University and the San Francisco 49ers.
He had played quarterback for Michigan, the Chicago Bears, the Indianapolis Colts, and the San Diego Chargers before taking on coaching roles. Marshall Faulk, a Hall of Fame running back who played with Jim Harbaugh in Indianapolis, thinks Harbaugh can make the Chargers a winning team.
During his visit on the Rich Eisen show, Faulk stated that he was not shocked that Harbaugh has been a great coach and that his tough demeanor made playing with him pleasurable every time.
“Every location he has been to has improved during his tenure,” Faulk said. He wants to win the struggle at the line of scrimmage, so one thing he does is bring in tight ends and offensive linemen.
“The Chargers have a carefree atmosphere for the past few seasons. That will soon go. And those guys on that team who aren’t prepared to play hard and make sacrifices will be replaced.
Jim Harbaugh will set the tone for the Chargers, and Faulk is aware that he won’t let his team take the simple route.
