Colts Most Improved Player of 2024 Revealed.

Colts, Jonathan Taylor agree to reported 3-year, $42M extension ahead of season debut vs. Titans - Yahoo Sports

Pro Football Focus named a key defender as the Indianapolis Colts’ most improved player for 2023. In almost every way, the Indianapolis Colts’ circumstances had changed in 2023. A large portion of it was brought on by a terrible 2022 season that saw the club playing terribly and finishing with a depressing 4-12-1 record. Coaches, players, and front-office staff were all unhappy.

In addition to giving Indianapolis the #4 overall pick and quarterback Anthony Richardson, it raised a lot of concerns about Shane Steichen’s first-year head coaching role heading into the upcoming campaign.

Inquiries also arose around the potential comeback and potential decline of seasoned cornerback Kenny Moore II. With one year remaining on Moore’s four-year, $33.3 million contract, trade rumours abounded. In the end, Moore decided to play his final season with Indianapolis. Remaining put paid off, as Moore excelled in his second season under Gus Bradley’s scheme and assisted in leading one of the NFL’s youngest secondaries.

The seven-year veteran had one of his best seasons to date, earning the title of Colts’ most improved player of 2023 from Pro Football Focus. Despite the fact that Moore is thirty years old and some think his career is ending, he handled any potential critics with grace. Both his coverage rating of 79.3 and his total grade of 78.1 were career highs. What are the Colts’ next moves? Keep up with all the news and analysis! Moore’s 2022 overall defence grade was compared to 2023 by PFF. It is as different as day and night. Moore’s overall defensive grade in 2022 was 55.7; but, in 2023, he recorded a far higher score of 77.4. On the defensive roster, this performance was good for fourth place, behind players like defensive tackle DeForest Buckner (81.8) and end Samson Ebukam (84.4).

With 93 tackles (8 for loss), 1.5 sacks, 6 passes defended, 3 interceptions, and 2 defensive touchdowns at the end of the season, Moore also had an excellent stat line. After a breakout year, Moore is now a free agent, defying expectations that he would already have a new suitor. Will the Colts sign Moore to a new contract given that the Indianapolis secondary is stocked with young players like Dallis Flowers, Jaylon Jones, and JuJu Brents?

He’ll be just one of the numerous players that the Colts have to make a choice on keeping or letting walk in the 2024 offseason.
