Aston Villa and West Ham United are reportedly expressing a late interest in signing Pedro Goncalves, according to O Jogo via Sport Witness. The 25-year-old winger’s agent has been contacted by the Premier League team to discuss the terms of a transfer, but Sporting CP remains adamant about his €80 million release clause.

Pedro Goncalves may be signed by West Ham and Aston Villa.
West Ham and Aston Villa have been searching for a winger during this transfer window, and they are almost ready to make a signing. But they’re also considering Pedro Goncalves as a possible choice.

They need to move quickly to capture the 25-year-old winger, since there aren’t many days left in this January transfer window. Sporting CP, however, is unwilling to let go of the talented player in the middle of the campaign and will require any interested teams to fulfil his €80 million release clause. To learn the terms, the Premier League team has already spoken with Goncalves’ agency.

When Aston Villa expressed interest in him several months ago, they were instructed to activate his release clause. Even after signing Moussa Diaby, Unai Emery has been eager to add another attacker because the Spaniard felt he needed one more.

David Moyes, the manager of West Ham, is not pleased with the play of some of his players and may consider selling Said Benrahma if a good offer comes up. Although the Hammers and Aston Villa are unlikely to pursue their interest in Goncalves given his current price tag, the Scottish manager may still see Goncalves as a feasible alternative.

West Ham and Aston Villa are about to add new players.
Aston Villa is currently pursuing Morgan Rogers from Middlesbrough in an effort to finalise at least one signing before the transfer window closes. The midfielder is still eager to join, and his arrival might support Emery by strengthening the left wing, even though the Championship team has already rejected an earlier attempt.

Although West Ham has progressed negotiations with Ibrahim Osman, they have multiple candidates in mind to take Benrahma’s place, including Jonathan Rowe of Hull City. Moyes is still optimistic that he will sign at least one player before the window closes.

Regarding the Goncalves connection, the Premier League pair may reapply in the summer, ideally when the 25-year-old winger would be at a lesser cost. Sporting will stick by their adaptable attacker for the whole of the season.
