Shaquille Leonard, a safety with the Indianapolis Colts, suffered a serious ankle injury in the preseason finale against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and will be out of commission for the entire 2022 season.
On Saturday night’s first kickoff, Leonard suffered an injury that required him to be helped off the pitch. Watts will miss the rest of the season, head coach Frank Reich informed reporters after the game.
This sad injury will prevent Leonard from playing the safety room depth and special teams support role for which he was signed this winter to a one-year contract.
Another position in the safety room becomes available since Leonard is likely to be placed on the injured reserve list as a result of the roster cuts.
