Michael Thomas will sit the next three games out due to breaking the NFL’s Substance Abuse Policy.
Michael Thomas, a safety with the Saints, has been suspended without pay for the next three games, the NFL announced on Wednesday, for violating the league’s substance abuse policy. Thomas will miss games against the Packers and Bucs as well, but he will be able to rejoin the club following their Week 5 matchup with the Patriots.
Although one allegation was withdrawn back in May, there were still two things going against Thomas. This is related to his DUI arrest from the Jets in 2021, which occurred prior to his signing with the Saints. On that back in late August, he accepted a plea bargain.
In the meanwhile, New Orleans might look to youngster Jordan Howden, who has experience in both positions during the offseason. Veteran Jonathan Abram is also a member of the team’s practice squad, and there are currently some openings on the roster. It’s regrettable, obviously, but we’ll see how they handle it.
Alvin Kamara and Jake Haener are both out for the club because of suspensions; however, Kamara is expected to play again after Sunday’s game against Green Bay.
