SUCH A WILKED HEART: BAD NEWS FOR HEAD COACH OF COLTS AS HE WAS..

Coach unexpectedly suspend two players for the rest of the season in the middle of the playoff race.

Isaiah McKenzie looks down on field

The Indianapolis Colts have suspended two players for the remainder of the regular season, a surprising move considering they’re in the thick of a playoff race.

The Colts announced cornerback Tony Brown and wide receiver Isaiah McKenzie are suspended for the remaining three games of the regular season for conduct detrimental to the team. It is unknown what prompted the punishment.

Following their unexpected healthy scratch during Saturday’s 30-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers, both players received suspensions.

With three games remaining, Indianapolis’ victory improved their record to 8-6 on the year, earning them the seventh and final postseason spot in the AFC.
Given that standout receiver Michael Pittman Jr.’s status for Week 16 is uncertain following a significant hit from Steelers defensive back Damontae Kazee, McKenzie’s suspension seems puzzling. Kazee was ejected and suspended for the rest of the season as a result of the hit.

Tony Brown walks on field

After spending his greatest NFL season (2022) with the Buffalo Bills, McKenzie, now in his eighth season, has seen little play since joining the Colts this summer. In 13 games (two starts) with Indianapolis, he has only managed 11 catches for 82 yards.

McKenzie had 42 catches for 423 yards, four touchdowns, and a rushing score in the previous campaign.

This season, Brown has played primarily on special teams, appearing on the field 71% of the time. Playing 7% of defensive snaps, he has one start in 12 games. On the road Sunday in Week 16, the Colts take on the Atlanta Falcons, another team desperate to make the playoffs.
