Coventry City news from CoventryLive as the FA’s disciplinary panel delivers depressing news to the Sky Blues.
Callum Doyle, the defender, will serve a three-match suspension starting tonight against Swansea as a result of Coventry City’s unsuccessful attempt to have his red card for violent conduct overturned.
He will also miss the FA Cup match against Oxford United and the Championship match against Middlesbrough on New Year’s Day.
The referee, Oliver Langford, gave a straight red card to the centre half after he clashed with Bambo Diaby of Sheffield Wednesday during City’s 2-0 Boxing Day victory, which was secured by two goals from Tatsuhiro Sakamoto in either half. The Sky Blues disputed this decision.
After the game, Mark Robins was furious, insisting that his player was innocent and that the team would file an appeal right away to get the sending off overturned to save money on a lengthy penalty.
