Birmingham City has finally owned the race by signing…

In just over two weeks, the 2023–24 Championship season will get underway as Birmingham City visits Swansea City to start their campaign.

The Blues’ goal is to outperform the standings from the previous season, having avoided any relegation drama last time out.

John Eustace will have scheduled a busy summer of activities while holding onto some of their best players in order to do that.

While Siriki Dembele, Kevin Long, Krystian Bielik, Tyler Roberts, Koji Miyoshi, Ethan Laird, and Dion Sanderson have joined the team, Jobe Bellingham and Tahith Chong have been let go.

They aren’t anticipated to stop there, either, and we’ve covered all the most recent Birmingham City transfer news right here.

Ipswich Town has been rumoured to be interested in Arsenal defender Auston Trusty, and the club has him on their list of possible summer targets.

Trusty won the team’s Player of the Year award while on loan at Birmingham City during the previous season.

However, the defender’s future is still uncertain as he has returned to Arsenal, his parent club.

According to Birmingham Live, Birmingham is still interested in re-signing Trusty this summer, despite the Tractor Boys’ interest in the young defender.

Although Trusty’s contract with Arsenal is still in effect, it has been suggested that the Gunners may consider accepting offers for the defender.

Hannibal Mejbri gives Birmingham City a boost
Hannibal Mejbri of Manchester United was loaned to Birmingham City for the previous season.

With 41 appearances in all competitions, the midfielder established himself as a valuable member of the Blues starting lineup.

Throughout the season, Hannibal’s reputation among the Birmingham supporters was evident, as he ended with one goal and six assists.

Following his comeback to the team at the end of the last campaign, the Tunisian has played in both of Manchester United’s preseason games.

The 20-year-old’s future at the team is still up in the air, but The Athletic reports that a return to the Championship on loan hasn’t been ruled out, nor has a permanent departure.

Contract negotiations with Keshi Anderson in Birmingham
Pre-season trials for Keshi Anderson have taken place at Birmingham, and Birmingham Live reports that the team is in negotiations with him over a contract extension.

This summer, the 28-year-old is without a club after Blackpool dismissed him last month.

After moving from Swindon Town to Bloomfield Road in 2020, Anderson spent three years as a regular member of the first squad.

The forward has been practicing with the team for more over two weeks, and he has played in three preseason games for Birmingham.

Anderson played the whole ninety minutes of the Blues’ Wednesday game against Northampton Town. That came after he made appearances in matches for FC Cartagena and Solihull Moors.

The team is reportedly aiming to come to a deal to sign the 28-year-old, according to this Birmingham Live article.

Exclusive to Football League World, three EFL teams have contacted defender Tennai Watson, including Birmingham.

The 26-year-old left MK Dons after their relegation to League Two, leaving him without a club.

After leaving Reading, Watson stayed with the team for two years. It looks like he may be returning to the EFL, as the Blues, Huddersfield Town, and Charlton Athletic have all made contact with the right-back.

Watson has only made four appearances in the Championship thus far, most of them were in League One.
