Colts Respond to Super Bowl Week Survey PFF because the Indianapolis Colts Have a Bright Future.

Why Colts Shane Steichen Could Win Coach of the Year Award

Super Bowl Week (-2, 49ers) is upon us, and although the Indianapolis Colts aren’t in the running right now (*and haven’t been since 2009), let’s hope for brighter times in the future! Having said that, between the San Francisco 49ers and the Kansas City Chiefs, who do you believe will win the Lombardi Trophy? (That is, does your heart speak a different language than your head?)

In addition, the Colts have a lot of questions heading into the upcoming offseason, such as which position is still the most in need of help and which free agent is the highest priority among a strong group of in-house candidates that includes this year’s class of Michael Pittman Jr., Kenny Moore II, Grover Stewart, and Julian Blackmon.

Despite missing out on the NFL Playoffs in 2023, many felt that the 9-8 record of the Indianapolis Colts exceeded expectations. Head coach Shane Steichen and quarterback Anthony Richardson appeared to have provided the Colts with answers to two of the most important questions in 2023.

Richardson had moments of greatness in 2023 despite only playing four games, but he was lost to a shoulder injury. Steichen is regarded as one of the NFL’s most intelligent and youthful coaches. Although general manager Chris Ballard has two highly sought-after free agents of his own, he has lined up the club and contracts to be a player in free agency. Grover Stewart, a defensive lineman, and wide receiver Michael Pittman, in particular, will receive significant wage increases.

Pro Football Focus (PFF) identified the five teams that have the most cap space available, a core group of players to develop around, and the best future setups. The Colts were ranked fourth in the NFL by PFF. The Houston Texans in first place and the Tennessee Titans in third suggest that the division may become extremely competitive in the near future. “The Colts don’t have quite as much cap room as the Titans, but given where quarterback Anthony Richardson was selected in the 2023 NFL Draft, they will be confident that they have the position figured out for the foreseeable future,” Gordon McGuinness stated on PFF.

Maybe they’ll try to add an impact player to the defence, such as cornerback L’Jarius Sneed (who had a 71.1 PFF grade with the Kansas City Chiefs during the previous regular season). However, the most significant benefit of having so much budget space is that it allows them to sign wide receiver Michael Pittman Jr. to a long-term contract by using the franchise tag.

” The Colts have roughly $60 million in cap room that they can use to re-sign Stewart and Pittman while still having players available in free agency. In particular, how contracts might be drafted to reduce cap hits during the first few years of a new agreement. Steichen appears to be a brilliant hire. Only a few games were played by Richardson and running back Jonathan Taylor of plays together in 2023, and the Colts still went to the final whistle before being eliminated from the playoffs.
