Mavericks: The twin of Marcus Morris suggests that the veteran forward may join Dallas following the Spurs’ buyout.
It could just be that the band is reuniting. According to his social media, Dallas Mavericks forward Markieff Morris is making hints that his twin brother Marcus may be moving to Dallas to join him. The Indiana Pacers are trading Marcus Morris, according to The Athletic.
Marcus is being traded by Indiana to the San Antonio Spurs in exchange for money and a potential second-round NBA lottery pick. Doug McDermott is going to the Pacers in exchange. Marcus will then probably be bought out by the Spurs, according to The Athletic. In the end, that is the situation that would make Marcus perhaps consider joining Markieff at the Mavericks.
Prior to entering the league together in 2011, the Morris twins were teammates while they played basketball for Kansas. Both were selected in the first round of the NBA draft that season, 13th and 14th overall. Throughout their careers, both brothers have played for a number of NBA teams; Markieff most recently won an NBA championship with the Los Angeles Lakers in 2020. For a brief two seasons, from 2013 to 2015, the twins were teammates with the Phoenix Suns.
Markieff Morris has only appeared in 17 games for the Mavericks this season. With slightly under 3 points per game, he is playing 9 minutes each game on average. Marcus has participated in 37 games for the Philadelphia 76ers this season. Marcus, who recently joined Indiana, is averaging just under 7 points per game.

The San Antonio Spurs hosted the Miami Heat at the Kaseya Center in Miami, Florida to kick off their yearly Rodeo Road Trip. Up until the fourth quarter, the game was a close back-and-forth. The Heat won the game 116-104 after outscoring the Spurs 38-27. The Spurs’ dismal performance throughout the quarter can be attributed to a number of factors, but their freezing-cold shooting for the most part has to be the main one. The Spurs scored the majority of their points during a 10-0 run in garbage time, shooting 9 of 21 in the fourth quarter.
