Appeal for 10-game suspension denied for Lane Johnson.

Eagles set to release Pro Bowl cornerback Darius Slay in stunning turn of events

Lane Johnson, an offensive tackle for the Philadelphia Eagles, has been denied his appeal of a 10-game sentence for his second offense of using performance-enhancing drugs.
Following an appeal that stretched into the regular season, Steve Zashin, Johnson’s attorney, informed Albert Breer of The MMQB on Tuesday that the suspension had been upheld.
According to ESPN.com’s Phil Sheridan, Johnson accused the NFL Players Association in August of not being clear about which supplements are permitted.

Allen Barbre will likely replace the 2013 first-round pick after the suspension was upheld. That would allow rookie third-round pick Isaac Seumalo to slide into a starting role at left guard.

Philadelphia is off to a 3-1 start, but losing Johnson for an extended period could hurt its playoff chances because of the adverse impact the suspension will have on protecting rookie quarterback Carson Wentz.

With an eye toward 2024, Philadelphia Eagles general manager Howie Roseman hired suspended cornerback Isaiah Rodgers; were other league general managers unaware of this?
It was Howie Roseman again. On Monday afternoon, the general manager of the Philadelphia Eagles signed Isaiah Rodgers, committing yet another personnel robbery in plain open.
Is it true that no other team expressed interest in signing a 25-year-old cornerback who was rated as the fifth-best in the league by Pro Football Focus in the previous season, or did he just catch some other general managers sleeping in?

Perhaps others saw Rodgers as something of a pariah following the NFL’s prolonged suspension for off-season gambling. It’s unlikely that he will request reinstatement until after the current campaign.

Although he wouldn’t be available for months after his suspension for gambling, receiver Calvin Ridley, who was traded to the Jacksonville Jaguars last November, is expected to be a major asset for the team. Ridley missed the entire previous season due to his suspension, but he was allowed to play this season.

With two veterans covering the corners in Darius Slay and James Bradberry, as well as a wealth of skill players like Josh Jobe and Kelee Ringo waiting in the wings, as well as undrafted free agents like Eli Ricks, Mekhi Garner, and Mario Goodrich, whose roster status will be revealed later on Tuesday afternoon when the Eagles have to have their 53-man roster set by 4 p.m., they don’t need Aaron Rodgers this season.
