Draymond Green’s conduct during Tuesday’s Golden State Warriors vs. Minnesota Timberwolves game have resulted in a five-game suspension from the NBA. After Klay Thompson and Jaden McDaniels got into a brawl, Green choked Rudy Gobert. Though the NBA has later declared that Gobert was a “peacemaker” for attempting to remove Thompson from the situation, Green felt that Gobert also had his teammate Thompson by the throat.
Everyone seems to agree that this was an incredible scene, even though there are differing views on what transpired and who was at fault. The star of the Toronto Raptors, Scottie Barnes, was among those who responded to the tragedy by sharing this post:
Barnes is undoubtedly responding to a bizarre picture, which is unusual to witness in an NBA game. Throughout his career, Green has been involved in numerous incidents similar to this, which is one of the reasons the NBA suspended him for five games.
The NBA made the following announcement regarding Green: Joe Dumars, NBA Executive Vice President, Head of Basketball Operations, announced today that Golden State Warriors forward Draymond Green has been suspended five games without pay for intensifying an on-court altercation and forcibly grabbing Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert around the neck in an unsportsmanlike and dangerous manner. Green’s past of unsportsmanlike behavior influences the duration of the suspension.
