QB Aaron Rodgers of Jets has been given an indefinitely suspension for…

Miles Austin, the wide receivers coach for the New York Jets, has been suspended by the NFL for at least a year for breaking the gambling policy of the organization.

Austin is contesting the ban, which was announced by NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy on Friday. McCarthy said that until the appeal is settled, the league would not be making any more statements.

The former wide receiver for the New York Jets did not coach during their Thursday night 19-3 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Austin did not wager on football, according to a statement sent to The Associated Press by his agent and attorney William P. Deni Jr.

Deni stated, “Miles Austin was suspended by the NFL for placing bets on non-NFL professional sports and table games using a legitimate mobile account.” Miles did not place a bet on any NFL game in contravention of the NFL personnel’s gambling policy. He has complied completely with the NFL’s inquiry. He is contesting the suspension.

Austin is in his second season as a Jets coach under Robert Saleh. In 2019, Saleh served as San Francisco’s defensive coordinator and Austin as its offensive quality control coach. The two were also employed by the team at that time. During the 2017 and 2018 seasons, Austin, 38, worked as an intern for Dallas as a professional and college scout.

After ten years of NFL participation, Austin caught 361 catches for 5,273 yards and 37 touchdowns. Austin spent his first eight seasons in Dallas after being signed by the Cowboys in 2006 as an undrafted free agent out of Monmouth. He was selected for the Pro Bowl in both 2009 and 2010.

After one-year spells with Cleveland (2014) and Philadelphia (2015), he concluded his playing career and turned his attention to coaching.
