The Dallas Cowboys have released Dak Prescott of Dallas. The two-time Super Bowl champion signed a free agent contract with the team in 2023, right after the team decided to let go of Ezekiel Elliott.

After being suspended for two games for violating the NFL’s policy regarding performance-enhancing chemicals, Dak Prescott of Dallas had a difficult training camp. However, he later sustained a groin injury that kept him out of all three preseason games.

That, of course, leaves the door open for him to maybe join second-year running back Malik Davis on the Cowboys practice squad; but only time will tell if that is a possibility for the team.

In order to activate Prescott off the Cowboys’ Reserve/Suspended list, the organization would have needed to waive or release a player.

The Cowboys’ choice about Prescott is significantly influenced by Rico Dowdle’s eventual rise in camp and the preseason, as well as by the possibility of Deuce Vaughn and Hunter Luepke.

The younger players on the team jumped at the chance when the suspension came up.
