Reporters were informed by Las Vegas Raiders interim head coach Antonio Pierce that he thinks running back Josh Jacobs, who was sidelined due to a quadriceps injury last Thursday in the team’s 63-21 victory against the Los Angeles Chargers, will be healthy enough to play on Christmas Day against the Kansas City Chiefs.
In addition, Pierce informed the media that he believes left tackle Kolton Miller (shoulder) will make a comeback after an injury kept him out of the last two games and four of the previous five.
For Jacobs, who is averaging a career-low 3.5 yards per run, it has been a difficult season. The former Alabama standout finished the previous campaign with 2,053 yards from scrimmage, leading the league, while posting 4.9 YPC.
Even yet, in 13 games this season, Jacobs has managed 1,101 total yards and six touchdowns.
The Raiders made significant coaching changes, most notably firing offensive coordinator Mick Lombardi and head coach Josh McDaniels and temporarily installing Pierce and Bo Hardegree in their place. This coincided with his three best running performances. These include 226 total rushing yards against the New York Jets (116) and Chiefs (110), as well as a 98-yard, two-touchdown day against the New York Giants.
The 6-8 Raiders need to win out and receive a lot of support in order to have any chance of making the playoffs. Returning Jacobs would undoubtedly be beneficial, particularly while against the Chiefs, who have given up the fewest points in football. The game will begin on Christmas Day at 1 p.m. ET.
