Coach Mike Sullivan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, who coaches the quarterback position, had a lot of uncertainty during the offseason. However, last week, he received some encouraging news as the team makes staff changes in preparation for a crucial 2024 season.

Sullivan will remain with the Steelers as their quarterbacks coach, per a report from Aaron Wilson of Houston, Texas’ KPRC2. In recent weeks, he was apparently considered for offensive coordinator positions with other teams, but he was passed over for them. It was also rumoured that the team was searching for successors. Sullivan will remain in Pittsburgh to supervise Kenny Pickett’s growth instead.

Following a lengthy career as a collegiate and NFL coach, Sullivan joined the Steelers in 2021. Alongside running backs coach Eddie Faulkner, Sullivan took over as offensive coordinator when Matt Canada was fired by the Steelers in November of last year.

With Sullivan calling the plays, Kenny Pickett had some promise the previous season. Before sustaining an ankle injury, Sullivan passed for 278 yards and completed 72% of his passes in a Week 12 victory over the Bengals. This was Sullivan’s first game calling plays for the Steelers.

Under Sullivan’s direction, Mason Rudolph also had a successful comeback season, helping Pittsburgh to a 3-1 record and an unexpected playoff appearance. As a starter, Rudolph completed 74% of his passes for 719 yards, three touchdowns, and no interceptions.

With the addition of Arthur Smith as offensive coordinator, Tom Arth as passing game coordinator, and Zach Azzanni as wide receivers coach, the Steelers have significantly altered their coaching staff. However, in 2024, Sullivan will still be a recognisable voice on the offensive coaching staff of the Pittsburgh Steelers.
