Super Eagles are disappointed but appreciative of their silver medal at the 2023 AFCON.

The CAF African Cup of Nations final loss to the Nigeria Super Eagles in 2023 was a source of disappointment for the team.

In the championship match on Sunday, the Elephants of Côte d’Ivoire emerged victorious and won the championship. In the end, the Ivorians prevailed 2-1 over the Nigerian Super Eagles in a fiercely contested battle. Troost-Ekong’s opening goal was cancelled out by goals from Franck Kessie and Sebastien Haller, giving Côte d’Ivoire the victory.

The Super Eagles players and officials were not able to win the championship, despite their confidence before the game.

The Eagles tweeted their disappointment at their loss on Monday along with their appreciation for the silver medal they had won. The Eagles wrote, “Disappointed, but we settle for the Silver Medal.”

The Nigerian team expressed gratitude for winning the silver medal at the prestigious tournament despite expressing their sadness at not winning the championship title.
