The Pittsburgh Steelers are presently projected to be slightly over the $750 million NFL salary cap in 2024. You shouldn’t freak out because the squad can and will soon turn that number around to their advantage. The team won’t often make many significant free agency acquisitions, but by March 13, 2024, when the next league year officially begins, they will need to be in compliance with the cap.

In addition to strengthening their roster, how can the Steelers comply with the pay cap? For this exercise, I used the cap calculator at Over The Cap, which gives real-time salary cap modifications about the movements I’m making, rather than a general manager simulator.

Fortunately for me, Khan had previously handled a couple cap-space-saving moves before I came over, such as the release of punter Pressley Harvin, offensive tackle Chuks Okorafor, and quarterback Mitch Trubisky, which helped the Steelers save just less than $650 million in 2024. But there’s still a lot of work to be done before the NFL Draft in 2024…

I have to make offers to the free agents with exclusive rights who can only talk to the Steelers before the next league year starts. Linebacker Jeremiah Moon and offensive lineman Dylan Cook are those players. Although Moon is more of a depth player, with the anticipated changes on the offensive line this offseason, there might be something going on with Cook. With any luck, he can grow even more during the off-season training.
