Todd Marshall, who is almost guaranteed to sign a long-term contract at Alberton, is about to sign with Port Adelaide.

The 25-year-old will sign a new deal that will last at least four years, and all sides are optimistic that a deal can be reached by the end of the first round at the latest.

Positive discussions before to Christmas suggest that Marshall will likely remain a Port player until at least the end of 2028, when he does decide to sign a contract.

Due to hip surgery, the restricted free agent, who was undoubtedly at the top of many wishlists throughout the league, has been on a modified regimen this preseason.

Marshall, who attended the GWS academy for a brief period of time as a teenager, battled through the injury-plagued second half of the season, frequently finding it difficult to practice throughout the week in order to be ready for games.

The Murray Bushrangers product will intensify his conditioning over the next two months in preparation for the season, even though he achieved 36 goals from 21 appearances.

For the Power, Marshall’s impending signature will represent yet another big victory.

In the same week of last month, the team locked away new captain Connor Rozee (2032) and Zak Butters (2026).
