Charlie Allen, who came to York City on loan from Leeds United, is keen to leave his mark on the non-league team. The offensive midfielder will join a City club fighting for survival in the Vanarama National League for the upcoming month.

Allen, who joined Elland Road permanently in 2020 after leaving Irish Premiership team Linfield, is expected to make his Minstermen debut this evening against Oldham Athletic. “I think I have been doing well (with Leeds), but I would prefer to say I should have probably had more goals and more assists this season,” he stated. “I am probably quite harsh on myself.”

Yesterday was the first training session the 20-year-old had with his new teammates. With United’s academy teams frequently playing at York’s stadium, Allen, who has six Under-21 caps for Northern Ireland, claimed the LNER Community Stadium already seems like home.

“It feels like home already,” Allen said to the media representatives from York. “I feel great and am eager to start underway. I’ve played a few games here this season, so the venue is class; for me, not much has changed.”
