The NFL has reinstated Myles Garrett, the outstanding defensive end for the Cleveland Browns. On Friday, he punched Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Mason Rudolph over the head with a helmet, earning him an indefinite suspension from the NFL.

Garrett’s attack on Rudolph in the last seconds of a nationally broadcast game on November 14th caused him to miss Cleveland’s final six games of the previous season. The Browns, who went 2-4 without Garrett and finished 6-10, were severely damaged by his loss. Coach Freddie Kitchens was sacked, and general manager John Dorsey resigned.

Garrett met with NFL commissioner Roger Goodell in New York on Monday after expressing regret for the incident.
“Our organization extends a warm welcome to Myles upon his return,” stated Andrew Berry, general manager of the Browns. “We are aware that he is appreciative of his reinstatement, keen to move on from the past, and eager to keep developing as a leader. We anticipate his return as a valuable team member, contributor, and member of our community.
When Garrett and Rudolph got into a fight, the Browns were about to pull off an unusual victory over the Steelers. After an attempt at a pass, he took Rudolph down, and they grappled on the ground. Rudolph was hit by Garrett after he tore off his helmet, which led to a fight between the two teams.
Later, Garrett claimed that Rudolph had made a racist term directed at him; the Steelers quarterback has angrily refuted this claim.
