Following the Japan GP, Red Bull’s Max Verstappen would face suspension from the FIA Super License.
Max Verstappen returned to the podium at the Japan Grand Prix, but Sergio “Checo” Perez, his teammate from Red Bull Racing, could have his FIA Super License suspended because of the maximum number of accidents a driver can have in a race.
It was a forgettable weekend for the Mexican driver. He had said that “the car felt strange” since practice. Despite starting the race in the top 5 in the end, he was unable to complete it. Max Verstappen, his colleague, made a comeback to the top of the podium in the meanwhile. Red Bull emerged victorious in the team competition thanks to the Dutchman’s triumph.
Sergio Perez may be subject to a suspension of his FIA Super License, which is a prerequisite for all Formula 1 drivers. RacingNews365 claims that the document is slightly over $11,000 in cost, but renewing it only adds $2,000.
To stop sabotage, it employs a point system. It restricts how many mishaps a driver can have in a single race. A driver is suspended for one race after accruing 12 points in a calendar year. Following the race at the Suzuka track in Japan, Checo Perez has seven points.
The Red Bull driver has five points left, and although it may not sound like much, there are still six races to go. Checo Perez can keep adding and maintain his second-place finish, unlike last year when he lost it to Charles Leclerc in the last races, even though Max Verstappen can win the title in Qatar for a record three times.
