After his DWI arrest, Missouri’s standout Kewan Lacy was suspended from the team.
Star linebacker Chad Bailey of Missouri was banned from the team on Sunday, the school announced. Bailey was detained early on Sunday on suspicion of driving under the influence.
Boone County Sheriff’s Office web records state that Bailey, a 23-year-old captain of the Tigers squad, was jailed at about 2:45 a.m. local time and released on $500 bond.
Bailey was stopped by the Columbia campus at one in the morning on Sunday, according to the police, for a lane infraction and an invalid licence plate. After consuming alcohol, Bailey allegedly admitted to officers that he had failed a field sobriety test.
Eli Drinkwitz, the football coach at Missouri, said to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, “We are aware of the situation involving Chad Bailey.” “In accordance with Department of Athletics regulations, he has been suspended. All of our student-athletes are held to high standards both on and off the pitch, and we shall abide by all departmental and university regulations.”
Bailey chose to return for his final year of eligibility, so in autumn he will likely be a sixth-year senior, the publication said. Any athlete who gets arrested is required by the Missouri student-athlete policy to serve a minimum of one week of suspension.
Bailey made eleven starts for Missouri in the 2022 campaign. Among his 57 tackles were 2.5 sacks and 8.5 tackles for a loss.
