The NFL’s Detroit Lions have acted quickly to punish individuals who broke the rules.

The NFL has suspended rookie Amon-Ra St. Brown of the Detroit Lions for breaking the gambling policy of the organization.

Detroit’s 2022 first-round selection has reportedly been suspended because of his involvement in mobile betting at the team’s practice facility for non-NFL games.

“After an NFL investigation, it came to our attention that a few of our players had violated the league’s gambling policy,” said Lions general manager Brad Holmes in a statement. These players made decisions that are against league regulations and inconsistent with our organizational principles. We have decided to cut ties with Quintez and C.J. right away. We are dissatisfied with Stanley and Jameson’s decision-making, and we will work with them to make sure they get the seriousness of these infractions and are clear on the league’s standards going forward.”

Along with defensive back C.J. Moore, other Lions infractions included wideouts Quintez Cephus and Stanley Berryhill.

The Lions moved quickly to discipline two players on the roster for breaking league regulations.

The team has cut both Moore and Cephus loose due to the infractions.

Amon and Berryhill received a combined six-game suspension.

Both have until the final roster cut-down date to start their suspensions to take part in off-season and pre-season activities.

The third-year general manager of Detroit talked about wanting to avoid pursuing players who would draw unwanted attention to the team during his pre-draft media session.

“Obviously, you wouldn’t do anything to compromise our culture or the integrity or put her (owner Sheila Hamp) in a bad spot or the organization in a bad spot,” Holmes stated. “Definitely make sure all things are communicated with her, especially when it comes to that kind of stuff.”
