A significant transfer drama is currently engulfing Mohamed Salah, as Al-Ittihad of the Saudi Pro League is trying to acquire him from Liverpool.

The Reds rejected a £150 million proposal for their star attacker on deadline day, demonstrating their insistence that he will not be leaving Anfield. Ittihad, nevertheless, is not backing down and is evaluating a bigger offer worth up to £200 million.

The Saudi Arabian transfer window will eventually close for the summer on Thursday, so the drama is expected to continue until then. However, the controversy surrounding Salah’s future is not new; the Egyptian was involved in a comparable tale when he moved from Chelsea to Roma.

Salah moved to the Stadio Olimpico during the summer transfer window of 2015, initially signing a season-long loan agreement. However, the agreement sparked a FIFA investigation, and Fiorentina filed a grievance against the Blues.

They believed they had a clause allowing Salah to return for the 2015–16 season, even though he had spent the second part of the 2014–2015 season on loan at La Viola.

Fiorentina insisted they had exercised the provision, but Chelsea did not share this belief. Instead, they sent him to Roma with the option for the Serie A team to purchase him.

After becoming incensed, Fiorentina filed a protest with FIFA, claiming a violation of contract and demanding £25.6 million in damages. The world governing body stated a year later that Fiorentina’s protest had been dismissed, but they nonetheless opened an investigation into the situation right away.
