Mathys Tel’s contract extension, which would keep him with the team through the summer of 2029, has been confirmed by Bayern Munich.

The French U21 international’s first deal was set to expire in 2027, but Bayern has now extended it by a further two years.

After joining from Rennes in the summer of 2022, Tel has made 58 appearances and scored 13 goals, the most of which have come off the bench.

The 18-year-old remarked, “This contract extension means a lot to me,” in reference to his new deal. At Bayern, I’ve already gained a lot of knowledge in both on and off the field. My family and I have made Munich our home, and I also place a great deal of importance on the supporters. Without them, I couldn’t be the player I am.

“Winning every trophy is what you always want when you play for Bayern.” I want to play with passion and intensity for Bayern, score and assist in goals, and offer this team and its supporters my everything.

Following Bayern’s 3-0 victory over Lazio in the second leg, which sent them into the Champions League quarterfinals once more, comes the news of Tel’s contract extension.
